Writing your own wedding vows may seem intimidating but it can be easy if you follow these simple steps.
- Find someplace that you can spend at least half an hour alone. It can be at Starbucks, on a park bench or even sitting in your car after work. You'll need to do this for each step.
- Write down everything that you love about your fiance. It doesn't have to make sense or sound pretty this time. Just write whatever comes to mind and write quickly. Don't over think it.
- During your second work session, read over what you've written. Chances are some of it is repetitive. Choose 2-3 main traits to write about.
- In the third work session do a rough first draft of your vows focusing on those 2-3 things you selected.
- Keep rewriting them and reading them out loud until you feel that you've captured the essence of what you'd like to say. It may be a good idea to record or video tape yourself saying the vows aloud so you can get an idea of how they sound.
